A local legend is a traditional story or myth originating from a particular community, often involving historical events or supernatural elements specific to the area. Local Legend Brewing Company celebrates Hilton Head’s past with a brewery, restaurant, beer garden and games – all inspired by the island’s history.
Athletes can earn the Local Legends achievement on any run, bike, walk, hike, or alpine/backcountry/nordic ski segment by matching to it more times than any other athlete over a rolling 90-day period regardless of pace or speed. The accomplishment will display on the segment details page with a “Laurel” crown icon and also on the leaderboard. Activity privacy controls determine which efforts count towards earning the Local Legends title. Learn more about how to manage your settings here.
Located in the former Grayco hardware building, Local Legend’s brewery aesthetic blends creativity with a warehouse-meets-cozy feel. Taking a cue from Hilton Head’s past, the space is filled with vintage photos, memorabilia and decor.
Local Legend studios are equipped with an array of keyboards, synths and other gear to create authentically local music. They work with a variety of regional artists, including Hannah Rose Graves, Jack Droppers, Brie Stoner, Remnose and more.
Urban legend has it that a woman in Burlington, Iowa named Kate Blood killed her husband and one of their children, then committed suicide by jumping off the bluffs at Riverside Cemetery. Her headstone allegedly drips with blood every full moon. There’s certainly a lot of bloody history to explore in this town.
