Questions to Ask During an Exclusive Interview

An exclusive interview is when a journalist or media outlet grants an interviewee an exclusivity on their story. This is typically done when they have unique information or a compelling story to share with their audience. When an interviewee agrees to an exclusive, they cannot talk to any other media outlets about the topic until they publish their article.

Preparing a list of questions to ask an interviewer is a great way to keep the conversation flowing during an interview. However, it is also important to be flexible and allow your conversation to prompt questions that you hadn’t thought of beforehand. You don’t want to sound like you are reading questions off of an internet list, rather than having a natural conversation with the interviewee.

What is the biggest problem your company is currently facing?

This question is an opportunity for applicants to show their problem-solving skills and creativity. Depending on how the candidate answers, it can be an excellent indication of their overall work ethic and ability to collaborate effectively with others. For example, if they mention that they are not a fan of teamwork and prefer to work independently, it is important to consider how this will impact their performance and the organization’s culture. Alternatively, if the interviewee explains that they thrive in a team environment and is open to collaboration with different people, it will be an indicator of their value system and fit for the role.
